DC Car & Van Recovery

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 October 2026

Who we are

Recovery & Transport DC Services (315 Corporation Road, Newport, NP19 0FN) is the data controller for the information collected through this website. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are.

What we collect

We only collect the information you choose to give us:

  • Contact form: your name, your email address and/or phone number, and the message you send us.
  • Quote form: your email address and phone number, the vehicle registration, make, model and year, and the collection and delivery locations you enter.
  • Phone, WhatsApp and email: if you contact us this way, we receive your number or email address and whatever you tell us.
  • Technical information: like most websites, our hosting provider keeps basic server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.

Vehicle registration lookups

Where this feature is switched on, clicking “Find vehicle” in our quote form sends the registration you typed to the government's DVSA MOT history service. It returns details such as the vehicle's make, model, year, colour and fuel type so we can fill in the form for you. We do not use the lookup for anything else. You can always type the vehicle details in yourself instead.

How and why we use it

We use your information to reply to your enquiry, give you a quote, and arrange and carry out collection, recovery or delivery of your vehicle. We rely on taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement, and on our legitimate interest in running our business and responding to people who contact us.

We don't sell your details, and we don't use them for marketing without asking you first.

Who we share it with

We don't share your details with anyone for their own purposes. We use a small number of trusted services that handle data on our behalf, only so the website and our enquiries work:

  • our website host, which delivers this site and keeps technical logs;
  • our email delivery service, which sends your enquiry to our inbox;
  • our email provider, where enquiries are received; and
  • the DVSA, only if you use the registration lookup described above.

When you use a quote or contact form, the details you enter may also appear briefly in our website host's server logs. We may also share information where the law requires us to.

Where your data is stored

Some of these services may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we expect them to use appropriate safeguards, as required by UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and quote details only for as long as needed to deal with your request, and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records, then delete them. If you ask us to delete your details sooner, we will, unless we have to keep them by law.

Cookies

We don't use tracking or advertising cookies, and we don't run third-party advertising scripts on this site. If that changes, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent where it's required.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it. To do any of these, email us at dcrecovery247transport@gmail.com.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
